Our Mission
The purpose of Crystal Wings
To support and empower individuals and families impacted by lupus through shared experiences, support groups, and spiritual guidance, we aim to foster a healing community, promote healthy lifestyles, and improve quality of life for all.
A Lupus Community
Crystal Wings is creating positive change and addressing community needs through support groups, collective action, and collaboration with other organizations.
We come together to support, educate, and advocate for those affected by lupus, including:
Patients – Individuals living with lupus who share experiences, challenges, and advice.
Caregivers & Families – Loved ones who provide support and seek guidance on how to help.
Healthcare Professionals – Doctors, nurses, and researchers who specialize in lupus treatment and advancements.
Advocates & Nonprofits – Organizations and individuals working to raise awareness, influence policies, and fund research.
Lupus is not the end of the journey; it’s a detour that teaches strength, resilience, and the power of perseverance.
Raising Awareness
Educational Campaigns – Crystal Wings shares information about lupus through social media, public service announcements, and community events.
Storytelling & Testimonials – We highlight personal stories of those affected to make the issue more relatable and urgent.
Lupus Awareness Month & Events – We also organize walks, fundraisers, and awareness days to engage the public.
Why is our name Crystal Wings
Symbolically, butterfly wings are associated with lupus for several profound and meaningful reasons.
Transformation and resilience: The butterfly symbolizes transformation, evolution, and rebirth. This reflects the journey many people with lupus face: adapting, learning to live with an invisible chronic illness, and emerging stronger and wiser.
Fragility and beauty: Butterflies are delicate, as many people living with lupus may feel physically. However, they are also beautiful and capable of flight, symbolizing hope, inner strength, and the ability to overcome challenges despite vulnerability.
Visibility and invisibility: Just as a butterfly can go unnoticed among flowers, lupus is a disease that is often unseen from the outside. The symbol helps raise awareness of a condition that is largely invisible to the world.
Butterfly-shaped rash: One of the most characteristic symptoms of lupus is a butterfly-shaped facial rash that covers the cheeks and the bridge of the nose. This rash is known as a malar rash, and has led to the butterfly becoming a visual symbol of lupus.
Children Support Efforts
Support and education on lifestyle changes that can help children with lupus maintain a healthier life.
We promote Emotional & Social Support for children affected by Lupus by:
Encourage Open Communication – We make a safe space for letting the child express their feelings and concerns without judgment.
Encourage Mental Health Support – We advocate for considering counseling or therapy to help with anxiety, depression, or self-esteem issues.
Connection with Support Groups – Growing the Crystal Wings community, where children and families can share experiences and feel less alone.
